There were a few things there that made me go "WTF!?" in my head, but I was trying to be discreet and only photographed two things:
I called this the "Tony Montana living room set" because it rocketed straight out of the late 70's early 80's and into my heart.
Please note the large black lacquer/glass/brass entertainment center against the wall, surrounded by very super puffy tufted white leather sectional, love seat and arm chair. These were in pretty good shape but I was looking around for the "The World Is Yours" neon enhanced /fountain.
The other thing that made me do a double take was that the gentleman whose things we were buying had several large taxidermy-stuffed animals being stored in this recreational hall that were not for sale. One item was an ENORMOUS moose head, I fell wildly in love with it but Randy reminded me that our living room is quite small and that we'd have to walk around it and duck under it to go from the piano to the fireplace, so it's a good thing that it wasn't for sale.
This guy was very close to the Tony Montana living room set:
Like the above photo, it's kind of dark because I kept the flash off while trying to be discreet.
Holy bears, Batman. "Teddy" wasn't very large as far as black bears go, but I almost walked right into him before realizing what he was.
This is one reason why I love estate sales so much. I never know what I'm walking into. Some people are great, some are kind of crazy (like the cranky bullfrog we dealt with at the fake estate sale) and sometimes it's full of Studio 54 rejects and enormous wildlife.
I am late to the party, but I'm linking this with Sir Thrift A Lot's WTF Tuesday .
Ooohhh,I'm sad I missed this sale. I really want a Jackalope!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine having that huge bar in my living room, but I have to ask... how much?
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining WTF? Tuesdays! Hope to see you this Tuesday.
